Jordan Paige Pavlic, a 2016 graduate of Mt. Shasta High School, is the first Siskiyou Promise recipient to graduate from College of the Siskiyous.

She earned an Associate of Science degree in Natural Sciences and was the 2017 Student Speaker during the May 19 commencement ceremony in the COS gymnasium in Weed.

Jordan attended COS in the fall of 2016 as a member of the first class of Siskiyou County students eligible to receive a Siskiyou Promise scholarship, which allows students to attend COS tuition-free.

The Siskiyou Promise is offered to high school graduates from Siskiyou and Modoc counties who register as a full time student at College of the Siskiyous the academic year immediately following their graduation.

Jordan took college-level classes during her high school career. It then took her just one year as a full-time student at COS to complete the remaining classes needed to not only graduate as a sophomore, but to also transfer to a four-year institution and continue her journey in following her dream of becoming a doctor, according to a COS press release.

Jordan participated in many activities offered at College of the Siskiyous during the past year, according to the release. She was a member of the fall cross country and spring track and field teams, earning the title of Scholar Athlete two consecutive semesters. She also served as a Student Ambassador.

In fall 2017, Jordan will attend the Oregon Institute of Technology to complete her pre-medical requirements and receive her Bachelor’s degree in Biology Health Science with a minor in Chemistry.

The COS press release ends with: “Congratulations Jordan!!”
