The public is invited to join Mountain Runners on Saturday, July 1, for an informal run around the Mount Shasta 4th of July course. Runners will meet at Parker Plaza in downtown Mount Shasta at 8:30 a.m.

Mountain Runners board member Dusty Miller says the event is planned as “an easy run to familiarize runners with the course prior to the race on July 4th.”

Maps will be available and temporary mile markers will be placed on the 5-mile course. A representative from Mountain Runners will be available to answer questions.

Special coaching will be provided to runners in the 2-mile youth race – especially young runners preparing for their first race. Youth runners will be shown the course and given tips on how to successfully run the race.

All events will follow the modified courses that were established last year to minimize impacts from trains.
