An updated 2017 Weed Carnevale schedule is included at the end of this story

Elizabeth Brigham, a junior at Weed High School, won this year’s Carnevale t-shirt contest and a $50 prize.

She said WHS teacher Josh Oates asked her to make a design for Carnevale. She said the design was required to include bocce ball, softball, horseshoes, music, the Weed arch, and a carnival ride.

She also included a road that connects the design to the 2017 Carnevale theme: All Roads Lead to Weed Carnevale.

Elizabeth said winning was cool, but it’s not the first t-shirt she’s designed. A few years ago she designed a t-shirt design for Weed Elementary School.

“Ive been practicing and doing art for a very long time in my life,” said Elizabeth.

She likes art, but wants to pursue a career in music or study Political Science at Stanford after she graduates from high school.

Born and raised in Weed, Elizabeth plays the bass guitar and plans to take lessons in acoustic guitar.

As a kid she said she always celebrated her birthday at Carnevale.

T-shirts will be on sale during Carnevale for $15.
