NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Siskiyou County Board of Supervisors will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 1:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the Board of Supervisors' Chambers, Siskiyou County Courthouse, 311 Fourth Street, Yreka, California to consider the adoption of an Interim Zoning/Urgency Ordinance extending the moratorium and prohibitions on Commercial Cannabis Activities as adopted by the Board on August 8, 2017 in Ordinance No. 17-11, An Interim Zoning/Urgency Ordinance of the County of Siskiyou Establishing a Moratorium on Commercial Cannabis Activities (Both Medical and Non-Medical) In All Unincorporated Territory of the County of Siskiyou, Declaring its Urgency, and That This Ordinance Shall Take Immediate Effect.
Ordinance No. 17-11 shall expire forty-five (45) days after its adoption, or Friday, September 22, 2017. This extension is proposed to be adopted pursuant to California Government Code Section 65858, and would extend the prohibition on commercial cannabis activities in the unincorporated areas of the County for ten (10) months and fifteen (15) days. Extension of the existing urgency ordinance will facilitate study of new State laws and issues related to commercial cannabis activities and will facilitate the orderly adoption of regular zoning code amendments, as permitted by law. At this hearing the Board will consider issuance of a report on the measures taken during the moratorium to alleviate the urgency.
The adopted Interim Zoning/Urgency Ordinance, Ordinance No. 17-11, is available for review at the Planning Division office at 806 South Main Street, Yreka, California. Environmental Recommendation: There is no potential for this action to cause a significant effect on the environment and the project is not subject to review under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to CEQA Guidelines sections 15060(c)(2) and/or section 15061(b)(3); and additionally it would be categorically exempt from review under the Class 8 Categorical Exemption (regulatory activity to assure protection of the environment).
All interested persons are invited to be present and be heard thereon or present comments in writing to the Board of Supervisors, 510 North Main Street, Yreka, CA 96097. All items presented to the Board of Supervisors during a public hearing, including but not limited to, letters, e-mail, petitions, photos, or maps, become a permanent part of the record and must be submitted to the Clerk of the Board. It is advised that the presenter bring 7 copies of anything presented to the Board and that the presenter create copies in advance for their own records.
If you challenge the proposed project or environmental determination in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the Clerk of the Board at, or prior to, the public hearing.
