The public is invited to a “Food for Thought” gathering Sept. 9 in Mount Shasta to discuss food and nutrition, fighting hunger in Siskiyou County, and working together to strengthen existing networks.

Sponsored by the Ford Institute For Community Building, the event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will be followed by optional festivities from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Upper Lodge at Mt. Shasta City Park.

The community festival will feature live music and an ice cream social.

State representatives are scheduled to speak, and food assistance programs will be discussed and how to make them more effective, according to information from the Ford Institute For Community Building.
