NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY AND INTENT TO ADOPT A MITIGATED NEGATIVE
DECLARATION BY THE CITY OF MT. SHASTA CITY COUNCIL
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Mt. Shasta has prepared an Initial Study and proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND), pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), for the project described herein. Based on a preliminary analysis, the City Council, as lead agency, intends to adopt the MND at their regularly scheduled meeting of Monday, November 27, 2017, with a finding that the proposed project will not result in a significant adverse effect on the environment. The session will commence at 5:30 PM, or as soon thereafter as possible, at the Mt. Shasta Recreation and Parks District Lodge, 1315 Nixon Road, Mt. Shasta, CA.
Project Applicant: City of Mt. Shasta
Project Title: Tank 1 and Roseburg Water System
The City of Mt. Shasta (City) is proposing to complete improvements to its public water system. Improvements include replacement of a water tank on Quail Hill with a larger tank, improvements to the Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) station on McCloud Avenue; replacement of approximately 7,500 feet of water mains within the Roseburg water system; and installation of approximately 1,000 feet of 12-inch water main in a segment of McCloud Avenue. The improvements are needed in order to provide additional storage to meet current Waterworks Standards, ensure a safe and reliable drinking water supply, resolve chronic low water pressure issues in south Mt. Shasta, and achieve adequate fire flows. The subject properties are not included on any list of hazardous waste facilities/sites pursuant to Section 65962.5 of the California Government Code.
Water Tank Site: Within unincorporated Siskiyou County, generally 0.4 miles south of McCloud Avenue and 0.3 miles east of S. Washington Drive; PRV Station Site: Within unincorporated Siskiyou County in the road right-of-way on the south side of McCloud Avenue, east of Madison Drive; Roseburg Water System Site: Within both unincorporated Siskiyou County and within the City limits. Two alternatives are shown for the northerly segment of the project area (generally along Old McCloud Road and between Mountain View Drive and Loveta Lane); and along S. Mount Shasta Boulevard from Loveta Lane to the north side of the Interstate 5/Highway 89 interchange; McCloud Avenue Water Main Site: Located within the City limits on McCloud Avenue, between N. Washington Drive and N. Adams Drive. (Refer to Figures 1 through 5 of the Initial Study).
