It looks more like a real winter in the Mt. Shasta area with the snow that has been falling for much of the day on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2018.
More is on the way, according to the National Weather Service, which has a Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 4 a.m. Monday for South Central Siskiyou County, including the cities of Mount Shasta, Dunsmuir and McCloud.
The Advisory is calling for the snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches through 4 a.m. Monday, with the heaviest snowfall rates starting about 1 a.m.
The NWS forecast for the area shows chances of more snow and some rain through Thursday night.
Mt. Shasta Police Department issued a CodeRed Alert Sunday advising that plows will be out at 3 a.m. and all vehicles should be off the roads and alley ways.
