Tulelake and Scott Valley schools have been placed on lockdown per school policy, according to Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office press release
Numerous schools in the Scott Valley and Tulelake districts have received an email containing a bomb threat, according to a press release sent out early Monday afternoon, April 9, 2018, by Lieutenant Jeremiah LaRue of the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department.
He says the Sheriff’s Office has learned other schools state-wide have also received a similar email.
“Although there is NO imminent, credible threat, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office takes all threats seriously and has dispatched deputies to each school in these areas as well as security checks of all other schools,” LaRue states.
“Tulelake and Scott Valley schools have been placed on lockdown per school policy. Each school will be following lockdown procedure and making effort to contact parents and guardians.”
LaRue reiterates in the release that “there is NO imminent, credible threat at this time; however, we take every threat seriously and have dispatched law enforcement personnel to the schools.”
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the matter, and says more information will be provided as it develops.
