Fire fighting units from throughout Siskiyou County responded to a fire that started at about 4:45 p.m. Sunday, June 3, off of Martin Dr. in the Mt. Shasta Vista area, northeast of Lake Shastina.
As of Monday morning the fire had burned 37 acres and was 60 percent contained, according to CAL FIRE Information/Education Officer Suzi Brady.
She said seven outbuildings were destroyed, no injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Evacuations were ordered in the Mt. Shasta Vista area Sunday and a shelter was temporarily set up at the Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds in Yreka. The shelter was closed after the evacuation order was lifted at about 8 p.m. Sunday.
Fire fighting efforts on Sunday included two airtankers and two helicopters.
Monday began with seven engines, four hand crews, three water tenders and one dozer on the fire.
