DUNSMUIR, CA – On Friday, June 8, 2018, Jessika Osborne will follow a proud tradition dating back when Benjamin Franklin was the first Postmaster General of the United States.

Osborne will raise her right hand to take the official oath of office as the new Dunsmuir Postmaster at a 1 p.m. ceremony at the Dunsmuir Post Office, 5530 Dunsmuir Ave. Mount Shasta Postmaster Matthew Valdivia will administer the official oath of office.

Osborne began her U.S. Postal Service career in 2005 as a rural carrier in Mount Shasta. In 2017, she began her management career supervising carriers and clerks working in Yreka.

“I am extremely proud to be chosen as the new Postmaster for Dunsmuir,” Osborne said. “Becoming a postmaster has always been one of my long-term goals. I aim to serve the Dunsmuir community by providing them with stellar customer service by means of my expertly trained team of dedicated employees.”

Osborne has two daughters, Emmaline, 10 and Madilynn, 5. She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, swimming, painting, drawing, sculpting, camping, beach combing and furniture restoration.

As Dunsmuir Postmaster, Osborne oversees over 1,400 daily mail deliveries with more than 2,700 pieces of daily mail volume. In addition, Dunsmuir services over 500 daily Post Office box deliveries. Osborne manages six employees.
