CAL FIRE reported Friday morning that the Klamathon Fire in far northern California had grown to more than 8,000 acres and was 5 percent contained.

Multiple structures are threatened, damaged or destroyed since the fire started Thursday afternoon, July 5.

Interstate 5, which had been closed overnight from Yreka to Ashland, Ore., has been reopened.

An evacuation shelter is open at the Jackson Street School. A large animal shelter is open at Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds in Yreka.
