This post clarifies an incorrect statement that appears in the article about the special meeting in the August 1 Mount Shasta Herald.

The Mt. Shasta City Council has scheduled a special meeting for Thursday, Aug. 2 at 5 p.m. in the City Park Upper Lodge.

The special meeting was scheduled by the Council in response to the statements during public comments of residents who expressed concerns about smart meter installation by Pacific Power during the July 23 regular meeting.

It was incorrectly reported in the Aug. 1 issue of the Mount Shasta Herald that the Council would be allowing a presentation by William Bathgate, EE, ME. He was invited, according to Vicki Gold, but the Council did not agree to his participation.

City manager Bruce Pope will give a report, and city staff is recommending that the council consider a resolution requesting the California Public Utilities Commission to reconsider its position regarding delegation of its authority to local governmental agencies to facilitate the orderly installation of smart meters.
