NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Planning Commission of the City of Weed will hold a public hearing on Wednesday August 15, 2018, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 550 Main Street, Weed, CA 96094, to consider the following:

Conditional Use Permit for construction and operation of a Love’s Travel Stop at the west side of Interstate 5 at the southern terminus of South Weed Blvd. immediately south of the intersection of the southbound traffic off-ramp for Vista Drive and Mountain View Drive. The location is more accurately described as the parcels 060-552-400, 410,430 and 060-641-180.

The project is a 17.6 acre full service Love’s Travel Stop consisting of travel oriented automobile and truck fueling, a convenience store, two quick service restaurants, truck scales, a vehicle maintenance bldg., underground auto fuel storage tanks, above ground diesel storage tanks, truck and auto parking, vacating and relocating City Water line and easement, and the construction of bio-retention swales and a drainage pipeline within the Mountain View Drive Right of Way extending off-site. The use permit also includes a Sign Use Permit pursuant to Section 18.24.233 of the City of Weed Municipal Code. The project also propose to vacate the Right of Way that was dedicated to the city for street purposes (APN 060-641-420) pursuant to Sections 8310 et sec of the Streets and Highways Code; Project also proposes to extinguish property lines between the parcels listed above making the property one parcel. The action includes a review of the site and project design pursuant to Section 18.24.040.

An Environmental Impact Report (EIR) was prepared and circulated for this project. The public hearing is also for the review and recommendation to City Council for certification of the project EIR (SCH#2017092076). The EIR was available for Public and agency review from June 15, 2018 through July 30, 2018. Comments were received and will be made part of the Final EIR.

The properties are zoned C-2 in the City of Weed Municipal Code, and has a Commercial Land Use designation in the City of Weed General Plan.
