The fifth annual Dinner with Heart, a fundraiser for Mercy Hospice Mt. Shasta, is scheduled for Saturday starting at 4:30 p.m. in the Upper Lodge at Mount Shasta City Park.

Last year’s event was attended by about 140 people, including Tammie Baker of Weed, who was one of many high bidders during the live and silent auctions.

“They do so much for the people they serve,” Baker said of Hospice that night. “It helps me to know I’m helping someone else.”

Dinner with Heart is organized and supported by Mercy Hospice Mt. Shasta volunteers, and all proceeds go directly to the local Hospice.

“The community has been so generous in the first four years,” volunteer Susan Brennan of the previous Dinner with Heart events. “We thank them so much for the support and look forward to a successful and fun event.”

Tickets, which cost $40, include dinner by Keith Cool, wine tasting, and the silent and live auctions for many local art works, wine, outdoor adventure packages, and the popular “Ryan Farmhouse” that borders Sisson Meadows.

Another popular auction item is Music in the Meadow, an event held at the home known as Sky Dance in Hammond Ranch with music provided by Tom Scott and Leslie Tift. When it was held this summer, before the wildfire smoke began blocking so many views, “it was such a phenomenal evening under the stars,” Brennan said.

A couple other auction items of note – although there are many more – include a dinner for up to eight people created by JT Beggs using locally sourced meats, produce, grains and cheeses. It will be held at Leslie Ellorin’s Maagic Mountain Farm; and someone will bid enough to win a dessert a month for 12 months, each one created by a different baker in town.
