After public interviews and an open vote, Matt Lattanzio was appointed as Dunsmuir Elementary School District’s newest governing board member, replacing Cathy Rogers, who resigned last month.
Four candidates were interviewed for the position at the board’s regular meeting on Thursday, including Lattanzio, Judith Moody, Jennifer Coe and Scott Sordahl. After Lattanzio’s appointment, he was immediately sworn into office.
Lattanzio, who’s the district network administrator of information technology services at the College of the Siskiyous, said he feels the fiscal situation is the biggest challenge facing the District.
While on the board, he said he hopes to focus on the students, to stay openminded and to allow teachers and administrators to do their jobs.
“I feel it’s my duty to be involved with the system that teaches my children,” he said.
