Big WOW planned at COS for first week of fall semester

College of the Siskiyous has scheduled its annual Week of Welcome for the first week of the 2008 fall semester, Aug. 18 to 22.
Special activities have been planned and an “Ask Me” booth will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. next to McCloud Hall and the north end of the Student Center. Students are encouraged to stop by the information booth as needed.
Week of Welcome events include:
• Monday, Aug. 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Welcome BBQ, located between the Lodges and Cafeteria.
• Monday, Aug. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m., Pool Party, Bel Air Park/Weed Pool. Currently registered students will need a medical waiver/release form to participate. Students under 18 will need a parent signature. Bring your ASB card, residence lodge card, or current fall schedule with picture ID. Maximum participation is 100.
• Tuesday, Aug. 19 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Career Resource Fair, Weed Campus Student Center. This event will feature a variety of resources designed to help students decide on a potential career path. Representatives from local employment assistance agencies will be available to provide additional information about job preparation and search skills.
• Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 10 to 11 a.m., Bear Trail Walk and Clean Up. The Bear Trail is a COS landmark. It is an approximately two-mile hike on a dirt trail with mild to medium inclines. The group will meet behind Juniper Lodge and finish behind the Baseball Field.
• Wednesday, Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Financial Resource Fair, Student Center. Representatives from financial institutions will be available to provide information about budgeting and important financial matters.
• Thursday, Aug. 21 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Campus Involvement, Student Center / Bookstore Quad. Representatives from various COS organizations and campus clubs will be available to provide information on the many ways students can become involved at COS.
• Thursday, Aug. 21 from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., Rock N’ Bowl at Cedar Lanes in Weed, featuring bowling, music, and funky lights.  Free to COS students. Bring your ASB card, residence lodge card, or current fall schedule with picture ID. Maximum participation is 50.
• Friday, Aug. 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Meet and Greet Ice Cream Social. Ice cream will be scooped by administrators.
