The Mount Shasta Police Department is currently searching for a man who reportedly held a Mount Shasta woman at knife point and sexually assaulted her.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 31, the MSPD responded to a call of a sexual assault on Pine Street, said chief Parish Cross.
The victim said she was walking north on Pine Street when she was confronted by a man with a knife. She was then forced to the steps on the side of the Forest Service’s weather station, where she was sexually assaulted, Cross reported.
Though the victim was unable to give a description of her attacker, she did recall that he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt.
“An investigation was initiated, and all evidence gathered has been sent to the California Department of Justice for evaluation,” Cross said.
As is standard protocol, the victim was assisted by the Sexual Assault Response Team and a sexual assault advocate from the Siskiyou Domestic Violence and Crisis Center.
“We have not yet identified a suspect, but we are doing all we can to find the attacker,” Cross said. “However, without a physical description, it’s difficult, and our investigation is ongoing.”
If you have any information about this case, you are urged to call the MSPD at 926-7539.
