Fire departments from all over the area responded to an RV fire on Highway 89 Sunday evening.
Mount Shasta Fire Protection District Chief Chris Baker said his department was dispatched to the scene at about 5:30 p.m. Upon arrival, it was determined that the fire was fully involved and was a threat to surrounding vegetation.
The fire was successfully extinguished soon after the arrival of the first engine.
The Mount Shasta City Fire Department, Shasta Trinity Forest Service, CAL Fire, and the Dunsmuir/Castella Department were also present at the scene.
It was determined that the fire was caused by a malfunction in the RV’s engine starter. The owner of the vehicle was traveling on 89 from out of the area.
