For the first time ever, judging for the Mt. Shasta Fourth of July t-shirt contest has been opened to the public.
The Siskiyou Arts Council, partnering with Mountain Runners, invites the public to visit the SAC Gallery & Cultural Center, 418 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd., to view the design entries in the 2010 Fourth of July t-shirt design contest to vote for their favorites.
Three former contest winners, including Kim Solga, Debbie Blackwell and Pam Sexton will each cast a vote for their choice, and the public’s choice will constitute the fourth vote, said SAC executive director Lauri Sturdivant.
Each design must include Mt. Shasta itself and an indigenous flower from the Mount Shasta area, which has not been used in previous years.
The winning design will be used for the 31st annual Mt. Shasta Fourth of July t-shirt. The artist will also be awarded $500 plus six t-shirts and a sweatshirt. Second place winner will receive $250.
The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voting will continue until noon on Thursday, March 18.
The first and second place winners will be notified and announced Friday, March 19.
