Mount Shasta, Calif. -

Jack Miller, Charles McDonald, and David Libby, photo above, were sworn in Monday evening as members of the Mount Shasta Fire Protection Board.
The three won their seats in a hotly contested, five candidate race in November. McDonald and Libby are incumbents, while Miller takes the seat of out-going member Vern Swenson, who chose not to run.
Swenson was presented with a plaque in appreciation of his 12 years of service to the district by Chairman John Santi.
The district has moved aggressively to acquire equipment in the past year and is looking at possible sites for the construction of a new building. This year has seen the most emergency calls to the district in its history. Average response time for the month of October was three minutes.
