Local artist Rob Sanchez is working to keep the community spirit alive for Corben Brooks, the Mount Shasta High School football player who suffered a severe spinal cord injury during a season opening scrimmage last August.
Sanchez designed a t-shirt to celebrate Corben’s incredible spirit and “stayin’ strong” attitude.
“Following Corben’s accident, the entire community united and made a commitment to raise funds and support for Corben and the Brooks family,” said Sanchez, a retired Hall of Fame athletic trainer at College of the Siskiyous. “Since that time, Corben has come a long way in the recovery process, including graduating with his classmates this past June. We continue to keep Corben in our thoughts as he faces many challenges in the future.”
Sanchez had originally made the logo for Corben out of wood. He later decided to use the logo to do some shirts  to raise money and “keep the spirit alive,” he said.
Shirts are available for purchase at Sportsmen’s Den and at various other locations around town for $20 each. All proceeds will go directly to Corben and his rehabilitation efforts, Sanchez said.
