The temperature reached a high of 91 degrees on July 2 as Mount Shasta's 2009 Fourth of July celebration began with vendor, craft and food booths, a sidewalk sale and jazz music by Ron Hoopes on keyboards, Ted Taforo on sax and friends. The street scene is scheduled to continue until 6 p.m. Thursday, then continue from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Saturday's July 4th events includes the popular Walk/Run in the morning, a downtown parade at noon, more vendors and food booths, A Day in the Park Flea Market and other fun at City Park, and the fireworks show over Lake Siskiyou.
