Mount Shasta, Calif. -

Four people were transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta to be treated for minor injuries following a traffic collision on Everitt Memorial Highway on Wednesday,  according to a news release from the California Highway Patrol.
At approximately 11:30 a.m. on July 8 Alexander Uhl, age 18 of Mount Shasta, was attempting to enter the roadway from a dirt road to the west of Everitt Memorial in order to travel southbound, the CHP reported. Uhl drove his 2005 Jeep Liberty directly into the northbound path of a 2009 Kia Sedona minivan driven by Randall Leonard, age 66 of Twin Peaks, Calif.
Leonard, according to the CHP, was unable to avoid a collison with Uhl, and struck the Liberty in the left rear.
Uhl and one of two 17 year old female passengers were taken to Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta for treatment of minor injuries, as were Leonard and his passenger, 66 year old Janet Leonard.
Officer Baldi, who investigated the incident, attributed the use of safety belts and airbags in limiting the severity of injuries.
