Mount Shasta, Calif. -

Usher in the new ski season at Shasta Disabled Sports USA’s Second Annual Powder Stomp.
“The Powder Stomp is intended to get the community excited about winter, if they aren’t already,” says event coordinator Gary Nordel.
The evening begins with a screening of “Signatures,” Sweetgrass Production’s new board, noboard, ski and drop-knee film.
Filmed in the mountains of Hokkaido, Japan, the film is a “lovely tale of deep powder mystery” and features one of Mount Shasta’s own big mountain skiers, Forrest Coots.
“We are very excited to be able present this film to our community,” says Anna Soviecke, SDS’ event coordinator. “Signatures is a great film and is sure to get the audience looking forward to lots of snow.”
Live music will follow the film. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite retro outfits and to come dance their best snow dance.
Beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
A Patagonia garage sale will be held throughout the evening. “Every year Patagonia sends us huge boxes of clothing,” says SDS board member Aaron Beverly. “This garage sale allows us to pass it on to our supporters at a big discount and allows us to raise a little extra money for our program.”
Proceeds from the event will benefit SDS’s adaptive ski program. SDS is a non-profit providing year-round recreation and sport opportunities for people with disabilities.
The Powder Stomp will be held on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the City Park Lower Lodge. Doors open at 7 p.m.  Film starts at 7:30 p.m.  Tickets will be sold at the door for $12. Call 530-925-1531 for more details.
