Rose Marie Applewhite, a resident of Weed, passed away on March 5, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta. She was 52 years old.
Rose was born in Weed, California on September 13, 1957. She was a lifelong resident of Siskiyou County.
Rose was an executive assistant for College of the Siskiyous. She was a member of the Mt. Shasta Baptist Church in Weed.
Rose enjoyed reading, writing, shopping, cooking, traveling, and gathering with her friends, also known as the “House Boat Honies.”
Survivors include her son, Marcus Applewhite of Yreka; daughter, Katrina Applewhite of Sacramento; brothers, Arnold L. Byrd, Larry J. Byrd and Alfred D. Byrd-Beardon, all of Weed; sister, Ella Byrd of Sacramento; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale Byrd and Charles Byrd.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 13 at 1 p.m. at College of the Siskiyous Kenneth Ford Theater in Weed.
