All senior skiers and snowboarders age 50 and over, even those who have never raced before, are invited to participate in the annual Over the Hill Classic March 13, 2010 at the Mt. Shasta Ski Park.
The race is designed as a fun event that demonstrates “seniors do possess a healthy competitive spirit,” according to organizers, who add, “Seniors are as eager to measure their skills against the clock or in a personal competition with a friend or to experience the gates before the ‘pearly’ ones.”
It is also a fundraiser for beautification efforts in the city of Mount Shasta.
The Over the Hill Classic is a two-run giant slalom on the Lower Black Fox-to-Horizon ski runs.
All participants are required to wear a helmet and goggles. Ribbon awards will be presented to the top three downhill ski, telemark and snowboard finishers in each of seven male and female age groups.
All participants will be entered in a drawing for prizes donated by local merchants and businesses. Additional tickets for the drawing will also be available for sale the day of the event.

Also again this year, the Mt. Shasta Race Association will sponsor the 2nd annual Gene Landsmann Super-Slalom at the Ski Park on March 14.
Held to honor the memory of master racer Gene Landsmann, the slalom event is for master skiers only, 21 years and older. The race is a benefit for the Mt. Shasta Race Association. A commemorative T-shirt is available for sale as well as a raffle for a Ski Park season pass.
