Mary was born and raised in Mt. Shasta, California, in a close-knit Italian community. Her parents, Felice Bardoni and Clementina Bardoni, came to the United States in 1908 and finally settled in Mt. Shasta, then called Sisson, California.

Mary attended a business college in San Francisco ad was an accountant who worked for Siskiyou Union High School District for many years. She often said how she loved numbers, and she was a very well-respected accountant for the district. Her family and her work were her life.

When husband James A. Moore was still alive, the two of them camped and fished in many wilderness areas in Siskiyou County. Mary was also a very good athlete, and enjoyed playing sports such as tennis and softball as a young woman.

Mary’s passing marks the end of an era of second-generation Italians born to those immigrants who came to the United States in the early 1900s.
