Andrew Dean Pimentel was born on January 25, 1991 at Siskiyou General Hospital in Yreka, California
Andrew attended Montague Elementary School where he graduated as the Scholar Athlete and Salutatorian of his class. He then attended Yreka High School where he played JV Basketball, Varsity Baseball, and Miner Football all 4 years. He was chosen by the People to People International Organization to serve as a Student Ambassador in Europe. While serving in France, he was given the honor of raising the flag on the beach of Normandy. Andrew received his AA degree from the College of the Siskiyous, where he was a lifetime member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. He continued his education at Southern Oregon University where he was a member of Alpha Phi Sigma Honor Society and graduated with a BS in Criminal Justice. While there, Andrew worked for SOU Campus Security and the Ashland Police Department.
Playing rugby at SOU was one of the pinnacles of Andrew’s college career. He played the key position of Hooker and was honored to receive the award for “Try of the Year.” The camaraderie he experienced while playing rugby launched many deep and lasting relationships, the most important was meeting the love of his life, Alexis Karnofski.
Upon graduating, Andrew and Alexis moved to Washington State to pursue his dream of becoming a peace officer. After graduating from the Police Academy in Washington, he worked for both the Renton and Pacific Police Departments, and most recently the Snoqualmie Tribe.
Andrew will always be remembered for his love of all living things. He truly had a calling to protect and serve his fellow man and leave this world a much better place. Andrew was deeply loved and will be sorely missed by many.
Survivors include father Tag, mother Liz, sister Katie, beloved dog Zorro, and soulmate Alexis Karnofski. Paternal grandmother Louise Pimentel, maternal grandfather Robert Moreno, Bob, Lydia, Kyle & Trevor Moreno; Rick, Kathy, Andrea, Frances and Brad Moreno; Patricia, Bill, Claire & Liam Shaughnessy; Sandra, Elizabeth & Ethan Rogers; Tony, Debbie, Kaylee & Cody Pimentel; Denise & Josh Rodine; Bob Karnofski; Vicki Armstrong; and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 July 8, 2017 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Ashland, Oregon followed by a reception in Montague, California at the Montague Community Hall.
A scholarship has been established with United Scholarships Incorporated, P.O. Box 1328 Yreka, CA 96097 for a student pursuing a career in law enforcement. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to this worthy cause.
