Donna Rae Parks passed away May 17, 2017, in Chico Ca, at the age of 86.
She was born on August 28, 1930, to Ray and Elaine Ebbe in McCloud, Ca. She was raised and lived there until she went to Chico State for College where she met and married her first husband, Bob McLain. After graduating and earning her teaching credential she and Bob worked their way back to McCloud to live and raise their family. She liked gardening and playing the piano.
She was a 5th and 7th grade teacher for 30 plus years at the McCloud Elementary School. She loved being a teacher in a small community and not only seeing her students but the children of her students grow which gave her a great deal of pride.
Donna married her second husband, Bud Parks; they liked driving the jeep through the woods and hunting mushrooms and deer, dancing and concerts. They loved to camp on the Oregon coast, travel and take trips to Reno enjoying their time together.
Upon retirement in 1988, she traveled and enjoyed spending her winters in Palm Springs with her dad, Ray Ebbe and continued to visit yearly even after he passed.
Living in McCloud was where she wanted to be…Her mountain, her home and her friends. She moved to Chico three and a half years ago with her daughter Suzie Wess and husband Tim to help with her care and be close to her four great-granddaughters and loved being near them. They were her highlight in watching them grow. Sometime later she moved into an assisted living facility making new friends and a new way of life. She and her daughter would travel to McCloud monthly to visit. She loved to go “home” and touch base.
She was raised with a strong devotion and dedication to her family and carried it out well. Donna was always supportive, giving and hard working. She enjoyed staying in touch with friends and family.
Donna leaves her daughter, Suzie (Tim) Wess, sons, Scott (Cathie) McLain, Bruce McLain, step-children, Curt (Cindy) Parks, Patty (Harold) Cunningham, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Predeceasing her are her parents, husbands’ and son, Scott.
