William Francis Longworth (Bill) passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at home in Weed, California surrounded by his family.
Born March 24, 1949 in San Diego, California, Bill was the oldest of six children.
In November 1990 he married Nancy Holland Longworth and in 1997 they moved with their son to Siskiyou County.
Bill loved his family dearly, his greatest love being his wife Nancy. A large part of his family were his St. Bernards, which he grew fond of as a young boy. Bill spent his free time playing the banjo in a music group with his friends, horseback riding, skiing and surfing (albeit long ago).
Bill was a lifelong educator, primarily in the area of Special Education. As an educator, Bill found passion in teaching his students.
While he held many different positions in several locations over the course of the years, his love of helping all who crossed his path never changed. As such, his list of friends is quite extensive.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Thomas of Weed, California; daughters: Mary of Redding, California and Emily of Weed, California; brothers: Richard (and Mina) Longworth of San Diego, California, Nick (and Ruth) Longworth of San Diego, California, George (and Barbara) Longworth of Ramona, California, and Paul (and Martha) Longworth of San Diego, California; sister, Alice (and Virgel) Jones of San Diego, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mona Longworth.
Services will be held on Saturday, September 9 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Weed. A reception will follow at St. Michael’s Parish Hall.
Bill was truly a blessing to all that knew him. He will be greatly missed, but loved always.
