Born April 10, 1941, in Scotia, California, Selma Hadaway passed away on August 31, 2017, in Mount Shasta, California. She was 76 years old. She was a long-time Siskiyou County resident.
Known by many as Sam, Grandma Sam, Bama Sam, Mom, Sister, Aunt, and especially friend. Also known to have a very kind and giving heart.
She was preceded in death by her son, Khoy Lemport, and survived by her daughters, Carrie Hadaway, Cindy Fontenot, Stephanie Aquila, and son-in-law Tony Aquila. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Shane and Hannah Phillips (Great Grandchild Maci Phillips), AJ and Danielle Aquila, Jason and Shelly Aquila, and Evette Werder. Also, Cody and Jennifer Aquila (and children) Steven Werder, Michael Werder, Bob and Christi Aquila, Brittany and Courtney Aquila. Rachael and Charli Fontenot, Thomas and Patricia Fontenot, Mike and Leslie Fontenot, and Steven Fontenot.
She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Tucker. and survived by her sisters; Barbara Hubler, (and Dale), Dee Benner, Joyce Campbell, (and Ron), Patty Sheldon, (and Bill), Gary Shelden (and Jackie), Larry Shelden (and Joann) also numerous nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Selma loved working as a waitress for 51 years, including at Silva’s Restaurant and the Hi Lo Café. She retired at the age of 69. She loved her customers, many of them she considered to be family.
She loved spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s sports games, especially baseball. She enjoyed playing endless hours of cards with great conversation and many laughs. Recently she enjoyed getting to know her great-granddaughter Maci, they enjoyed ice-cream daily.
