Marie Alice Burger, 95, passed away in Anderson, California, on August 28, 2017 surrounded by her immediate family.

Marie was born on December 2, 1921 in Hayfork, California, the 4th of ten children, to parents Fowler David and Alice Josephine Barker. After graduating from Shasta High School, Marie went to work at JC Penny's doing alterations. This was a skill she enjoyed her entire life along with sewing, knitting, crocheting and crafting.

Marie married Arnold William “Buck” Burger on July 16, 1944 in Reno, Nevada. In 1946, she and Buck moved to Dunsmuir were she remained as a homemaker and raised her four children. Upon Buck's retirement, they moved to Brookings, Oregon, spending most of her time fishing and walking the beach where she amassed an amazing agate collection. They returned to their hometown of Dunsmuir to spend their remaining years closer to family. Preceding her in death was Buck, her husband of 57 years; oldest son, Robert Arnold; brothers, Robert, Calvin, Mervin, Harvey and Guy; and sisters, Mabel and Glenna.

She leaves behind a brother, Harold Barker and a sister, Virgie Morgan; daughter, Gail Loree Goodrich, and sons, Lee Ray Burger (Susan) and Ricky David Burger (Gila).

Marie was blessed with seven grandchildren, Robert, Jennifer, Aaron, Brian, and Troy, all Burgers, Mariah Jones and Tyson Goodrich. She also had seven great grandchildren, Chance, Jackson, Tyler, Aaron, Brodie, Alex and Whitney. And many beloved nieces and nephews.

Marie was interred at Mt. Shasta Memorial Park next to her son Robert and at her request formal services were not held.

The family would like to thank the Redding Hospice for their very special care of Marie in her final days.

Marie will be greatly missed, but always loved!
