Patty Duncan, a Mount Shasta resident, passed away September 12, 2017 at Mercy Medical Center at age 65.

Patty was born in Downey, California December 19, 1951 and was a graduate of Warren High School (NOT Downey High) as Patty would say; and attended Cerritos College.

Patty worked for her father at their family business, Golden West Pipe and Supply, where she met John. They were married in Downey in 1976.

They moved to Mount Shasta in 1979 to raise their family with newborn daughter Kimberly. After building a home and adding Johnathan to the family, they returned to southern California to help John’s family run Duncan Plumbing, their other family business.

They returned to reside in Mount Shasta permanently, where Patty loved living, settling back into the calmer small town life. They built a new house to raise kids and dogs. Patty loved Jesus, her family, children, dogs, and the LA Dodgers.

Patty was loved by many. She was always calm and understanding, the rock. Christmases will always be remembered because Patty created her own winter wonderland. Dean Martin singing, the smell of fresh baked goods, and decorations that put her home in a different realm.

Patty was selfless and always willing to help others. Many benefited from Patty’s generosity. She loved old movies and TV shows, and music from the ’50s and ’60s. Patty was the memory keeper.

She was a preschool teacher’s aide at the Baptist Church, working with teachers Chris and Veronica from 1997 to 2017. She was loved by many children and parents; and got to go to school every day with both her grandsons.

Patty raised, trained and showed dogs from an early age. Her most recent dogs, Molly and Ryker, participate in dock diving and barn hunts.

Survivors include husband, John Duncan; daughter, Kimberly (and Garren) Hanon; son, Johnathan (and Kristi) Duncan; grandsons, Duncan and Connor Hanon, all of Mount Shasta; sister, Sheri (and Lyle) Lint of Cerritos, California, and many nieces and nephews.

Patty was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia and father, Ralph Treber, long time residents of Downey and Mount Shasta. Mother and father-in-law, Johnny and Billie Duncan were longtime residents of Long Beach, California, Kona, Hawaii, and Siskiyou County.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the First Baptist Church in Mount Shasta Saturday, October 21 at 11 a.m.
