October 23, 1921 ~ May 11, 2017
Alice Giguiere Joens passed away peacefully May 11, 2017, in Mt. Shasta, CA.
She was born in Woodland, CA, to Karl and Alice Giguiere.
She studied law and graduated from California Berkeley. Alice had done some modeling in San Francisco. She later attended Sacramento State to get her teaching credential. She taught math at Morada Middle School for 26 years. She also taught a class called “Girl Talk”. She put on fashion shows with the girls.
Alice married the love of her life Charles J. Joens in 1946. Charles owned a vineyard in Lodi, California where they lived for thirty years.
In 1950, daughter Charl Lee Joens was born and was the joy of their lives. Alice’s first love was music - especially her daughter's singing, animals, gardening and loved to entertain. Her love of fishing made it so it was hard to get her out of the boat, or off the dock “I just got a nibble, one more minute”.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sisters and brother.
She is survived by daughter Charl Lee Joens; “by choice” daughter Janet Taylor; nieces Barbara Ross, Jane Burton, Michelle Giguiere, Chris Giguiere, Karl Giguiere, Hugh Giguiere, John Giguiere and Barry Struempf.
A celebration of life will be held on her birthday Monday, October 23, 2017 at 11am at the Mt. Shasta United Methodist Church at 312 West Alma Street.
Memorial contribution may be made to the United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Rescue Ranch.
My mother will always be “the wind beneath my wings”.
