Exie Wilson, 86 of Dunsmuir, CA passed away in Redding, CA on October 29, 2017 surrounded with the love of her family. Exie was born to George Adams and Classie Bradford on June 29, 1931 in Shreveport, Louisiana and was the last of 12 children. Exie attended McClymonds High School in Oakland, CA in which she later joined union with her husband, Erastus “Ernie” Wilson (preceded her in death).
In 1950, Exie Wilson moved with her husband from Oakland, CA relocating to Northern California, her husband was employed with Southern Pacific Railroad. Around 1955 they moved to Dunsmuir in where they raised their family and she was a resident for 60 years. Exie, a wife and mother raised four children: Geary Wilson, (Oakland, CA) Glen Wilson (Oakland, CA - deceased), Dwayne Wilson (Redding, CA) and Tammy Anderson (Manteca, CA); she had 5 grandchildren: Anthony, Earnest, Sabrina, Maurice and Marvin. She had 6 great-grandchildren: Earnest II, Jodeah, Savion, Evan, Mike, and Maurice II. Through the years she stayed involved with her family, children’s school functions, was a teacher’s aide at Dunsmuir Elementary School and worked at Traveler’s Hotel. Exie was a member of Mt. Shasta Baptist Church in Weed, CA in where she was involved with the Eastern Star, Women’s Mission and Church choir among other things. Her time has also been involved with Dunsmuir City Council, Planning Commission, Dunsmuir Senior Citizens, & Dunsmuir Railroad Retirement.
Exie attended “College of the Siskiyous” in Weed, CA and received her “Home Health Care” license along with becoming a nurse’s assistant until she retired. Exie then continued doing volunteer work at Weed Convalescent Hospital and in Mt. Shasta at the Care Center and Hospital working with seniors. Exie Wilson enjoyed spending time with her family, church, gardening and traveling.
Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 10, 2017 from 11:30 am – 3:30 pm and Funeral Services will be Saturday, November 11, 2017 at 11:00 am both at Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel, 830 Lassen Lane, Mt. Shasta, CA 96067.
