Our beloved Laura was taken into the arms of Our Lord on Sunday, October 29, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Laura was born to Tom and Katherine Wisbey on August 28, 1954 in San Francisco, CA. She enjoyed her youth attending Our Lady of Angels and Burlingame High School where she made many lifelong friends. The family relocated to Mount Shasta when Laura was in her junior year of high school. She graduated early in her senior year and continued her education at Cabrillo College and UC Santa Cruz in California and San Francisco State and UCSF where she worked as an RN and made many more lifelong friends. After obtaining her BSN, Laura pursued her career, her love of animals, and traveling the world. She had many rescue animals over her lifetime and was a true advocate of animal rights and worked for the well being of abused and neglected animals. She spent many years working in San Francisco, Del Mar, and Santa Cruz, CA. She also lived and worked in Germany, Saudi Arabia, and The Marshall Islands. She traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, as well as the Caribbean, Mexico, and many other places. Laura gratefully served her country for many years as a Captain in the US Air Force Reserves.
Laura is survived by her sister Lynn (Ted) Lockett of Mount Shasta, brother George (Sue) Wisbey of Cascade, Idaho, brother Mark (Donna) Wisbey of Sedona, Arizona, in addition to her nephews Pierson (Tara) Dewit of Boise, Idaho, Thomas Wisbey of Sedona, Arizona, Christopher Wisbey of Boise, Idaho, niece Candice (Brian) Saunders and daughter, Laura’s great niece, Lola.
A funeral mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, November 17 at 12 noon at Saint Anthony Catholic Church, 507 Pine Street, Mount Shasta. A celebration of life and luncheon will be in the parish hall immediately following. It would help assist in planning if you are able by texting or calling Lynn at 530.859.0120 with your name and how many will be attending. Laura’s family is looking forward to reminiscing with her many friends from all over.
