Longtime Mount Shasta resident James Herbert Lloyd passed away on December 21, 2017. He was 72 years old.
Jim was born in Dunsmuir on September 18, 1945 to Bruce and Sara June McCarty. Jim was later adopted by Sara June’s second husband, William E. Lloyd Sr. Jim attended Hooker Oak Elementary School in Chico and graduated from Etna High School in 1965 after the family moved to Scott Valley in 1962. Jim moved to Mount Shasta in the early 1970's, where he resided until his death.
Jim was a 40 year member of the Mt. Shasta Elks. He was named Elk of the Year in 2010-2011. In his earlier years, Jim worked in the woods for International Paper. He retired in 2016 from College of the Siskiyous in Weed as a Food Service Worker. His favorite pastime was fishing, spending time with his family and Elks events.
Jim is survived by his brother, Bill Lloyd (Gwen); a sister-in-law, Pam Lloyd; nephews Mike Lloyd (Tracie) and Greg Lloyd (Jackie), along with many great nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by a brother, Bob Lloyd, and his parents.
A Celebration of Life will be held on January 27, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at the Mount Shasta Elks Lodge in Mount Shasta, with a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jim’s name to Mount Shasta Elks #2333, 326 N. Mt. Shasta Blvd. Ste 9, Mount Shasta, CA 96067.
