Early morning on December 29, 2017 Elaine Doris Rogers passed away at her home in Seattle, Washington. She was 88 years old.
Elaine was born on February 2, 1929 in Downers Grove, Illinois to Walter and Arlie Mae Finnegan, the second youngest of 10 children including: Patricia, Frances, twins Donald and Dorothy, Robert, George, Jean, Mary Jane and Arlie. Elaine graduated from Downers Grove High School.
Elaine married Bruce Rogers on July 2, 1949, together they raised five daughters and two sons. They moved from Downers Grove to El Cerrito, California in 1958.
They lived in Novato and Sebastopol for many years; and retired to Spokane, Washington in 1985. In 1990 they moved to Lake Shastina. Bruce passed away in 2015 at age 87. In summer 2017, Elaine moved to Seattle to be closer to family.
In all the communities Elaine lived she was an active member of her local Catholic Church. In Weed, Elaine attended Holy Family Church and often helped with decorations, delivering communion, and church events.
Elaine was an artist and over the years took art courses at Santa Rosa Junior College. Elaine enjoyed painting scenes from all of her and Bruce’s travels across the country. They often visited family in the southwest. Elaine was proud of all her children and enjoyed family dinners/BBQs, camping trips to Lake Shasta, Christmas celebrations, and family reunions.
She loved seeing her children grow up to follow their dreams and raise their own families, which included 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Elaine is survived by their children: Gail (Bob), Lynn, Jane (Michael), Jill (Gary), Tim (Chris), Mark (Susie) and Jen (Dave); 12 grandchildren: Sarah, Lauren, Cody, Lindsay, Tyler, Jocelyn, Andrew, Elizabeth, Stephen, Benjamin, Beckett and Finnegan; plus eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Family Church in Weed Saturday, February 10 at 11 a.m.
