Ronald Gene Jones Sr., 87, of Weed, California, passed away at home on January 31, 2018.

He was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon on June 3, 1930 to Guy Wood and Mable Iona (Mitts) Jones.

He grew up in Weed, where he was part of the Boy Scouts and attended Weed High School. While in school he enjoyed wrestling and was one of the fastest runners on the track team.

He enjoyed spending time in the forests of Siskiyou County, hiking, fishing, hunting, swim- ming and exploring.

At age 18 he joined the Air Force and was based out of Florida attaining the rank of E4 over his four years of service. After the Service he attended Bethany Bible Collage.

After he returned to Weed he owned a ranch on Deetz Road where he had cows and horses. For many years he was a Dea- con at the Mt. Shasta Assembly of God Church. In 1953 he started working for the local lumber companies until he retire.

After retiring he attended college where he studied business, math, English, astronomy, and various art classes. He also enjoyed woodworking and leather crafting.

Ronald was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, LuVerne (Forrester); sister, Madelyn LeBel of Redding; and brother, Leroy Jones of Cotton- wood.

He is survived by his four children: Roberta Smith, Ronald Jr., Teresa and Gary Jones; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; plus his brothers, Stanley and Robert Jones.

Graveside services will be held at Lawncrest Cemetery in Redding on Thursday, February 15 at 2 p.m.
