Virgil B. Sword passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 20, 2018 5:52pm.

Virgil was born on June 10, 1929, to Ada and Thomas Sword in Nampa, ID. He served in the Navy in 1946 at the young age of 17 as an airman apprentice at Moffet Field, CA. He then married the love of his life, his sweetheart Sally-Jo on September 1, 1947. They have been married 70 years!

Virgil and Sally moved to Dunsmuir, CA, in 1952. Virgil started his career for the water service with Southern Pacific railroad in 1952 and retired 33 years later.

Virgil enjoyed hunting, fishing, gold mining and his favorite past time, metal detecting. He had a great sense of humor and a smile that would light up a room.

He leaves behind his wife Sally-Jo Sword of Dunsmuir, CA; a son Larry V. Sword of Vancouver, WA; a sister Emma Lee Dyas of Middleton, ID; and a brother Tom Sword of St. Charles, MO. He is preceded in death by son Michael Dean Sword.

Virgil has 5 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Virgil had a love for life and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
