Louie DeRoss, 95, died April 13, 2018 in Edgewood, California, with his family by his side.

The Siskiyou County native was born to Giovanni and Stella (Peruzzi) DeRoss in Dunsmuir, California.

He graduated from Weed High School and served in the US Coast Guard during World War II. He married Alma Rossetto in Weed on December 1, 1945. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and Long Bell/International Paper Company.

He loved languages and spoke Spanish and Italian at every opportunity. He loved his beautiful flowers and abundant vegetable garden. He loved local history and had an amazing memory for names and events.

Most of all he cherished his wife and children and their families. He provided his family with so many opportunities and a wonderfully stable family life.

He is survived by his four children: Dennis (Mary Jane), Christine, Michael (Debbie), Dan (Mary Beth); six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his sister Mary.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and brother Ino.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 25 at Holy Family Church.

He will be forever remembered by those who loved him.
