Jack Wallace Everhart, 75, Lake Shastina resident for 12 years, died Thursday, January 28, 2010 at his home. He had a short battle with cancer.
Jack was born May 16, 1934 in Los Angeles, California, son of the late Perry and Mabel (Anderson) Everhart. He resided in La Crescenta, California for 20 years before retiring to Lake Shastina in 1998.
He is survived by a brother Myron of Oroville, California, his wife Netti, also deceased sister, Anita (Peg) Lee, 2005.
Jack is also survived by two sons, Craig of Chandler, Arizona, his wife Kim (Gump), daughter Brittany; Keith of Gilbert, Arizona, his wife Monica (Pierson), daughter Jacqueline, son James.
Married once to Lucinda “Cindy” (Newman), deceased 1983. Jack is a German American descendant who can track his linage to 17th Century Germany.
Jack was an Army veteran who served during the Korean War. His name and brother Myron’s, are listed on the Living Memorial Sculpture Garden for veterans, 13 miles north of Weed.
Jack was an active citizen of the Lake Shastina community. He served as Lake Shastina Property Owners Association Director, Shastina Community Foundation Director, Habitat for Humanity, Environmental Control Community, and Shastina Fire Safe Council. Jack was Lake Shastina’s Citizen of the Year for 2008.
Jack’s hobbies were golf, traveling, volunteering, square dancing and gardening. He has many friends and family and always had a smile on his face. He was everyone’s best friend.
Services will be held Saturday, February 13 at 11 a.m. at Lake Shastina Community Bible Church, 5826 Jackson Ranch Road, Lake Shastina, CA 96094; 938-2525. Lunch will be provided following the service.
Burial is at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles, California.
