Longtime Lake Shastina resident Dotty Nystrom died at the age of 90 on August 13th at Hospice House of Hughson, with her family by her side. Dotty and her husband of 63 years, Jack, were among the first residents at Lake Shastina in 1970, and lived in Siskiyou County for 35 years. They founded Weed Real Estate, and Dotty was named Weed Citizen of the Year for her endeavors to have Main Street businesses repainted. Jack was Past President of the Weed Chamber of Commerce and Weed Rotary Club, and Dotty was active in Inner Wheel. If there was a civic or service project to be done, they were involved together, doing all they could to better their community.
Dotty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Cynde Nystrom of Bocas del Toro, Panama, her daughter Patty Smith and granddog Buddy Bear of San Diego, her daughter and son-in-law Judy and Lou Gravino of Pine Mountain Lake, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Thank you, Mom, for a lifetime of amazing lessons, laughter and unconditional love.
