Gordon Ray Evans Sr., a resident of Dunsmuir, passed away at his home on August 6, 2010. He was 73 years old.

Gordon was born in Oakland, California on April 1, 1937. He moved to Siskiyou County 20 years ago.

Gordon was a veteran of the US Air Force. He belonged to the US Air Force Color Guard in Washington, DC.

Gordon was a scientific laboratory technician. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing and white water rafting.

Gordon was a member of the Dunsmuir Lions Club. He rebuilt the fountain at the Dunsmuir City Park entrance; helped put out flags on holidays; and put out Christmas decorations around town.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Evans of Dunsmuir; daughter, Danita Marie Yandell and her husband, Marvin of Dunsmuir; brothers, Stanton Lee Evans of Medford, Oregon and Dale Evans of Lake Isabella, California; sister, Sue Heinley of Bakersfield, California; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 14 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Dunsmuir, with Pastor Dale Farnsworth officiating. Burial is at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery in Igo.

Arrangements were made by Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel.
