Mary Alice DeRushia Becker, age 83, of Sacramento, California passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2010.
Mary was born in McCloud, California on September 17, 1926. After high school Mary attended nursing school and worked as a nurse at Mercy General in Sacramento.
Mary was a loving companion to her husband Herman Becker, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 28, 2010.
She was a devoted mother to Steve (Noni), Beverly and Mike (Dana) Becker and granddaughter Kelly (Jeremy) Wright. She will also be greatly missed by her grandchildren Dennis, Joel (Jessica), Stephen, Cody, Kevin, and Allison Becker, and great-grandchildren Trevor Becker, Mia and Royce Wright. Mary is survived by her sister Kathleen Maurer, and brothers Lawrence (Pat) and Jerome DeRushia.
Mary enjoyed reading, shopping and cooking for her family. She especially enjoyed watching her husband participate in sports, and always cheered on her sons and grandchildren as they played sports.
Mary lived a full life and she and her husband understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time which one has.
Mary will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind, and in her legacy of a husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were loved unconditionally.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 14 at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, 4123 Robertson Avenue, Sacramento.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Mary’s honor to Mercy Hospice. Donations can be sent to Mercy Foundation, 3400 Data Drive, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670.
