Julia Fernandez, a resident of Weed, passed away on June 12, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Mount Shasta. She was 84.
Julia was born in Phoenix, Arizona on April 12, 1925. She moved to Siskiyou County in 1985.
Julia was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Ignacio Fernandez of Weed; five sons, Salvador Fernandez, Amador Fernandez, Ignacio Fernandez, Jenaro Fernandez and Valentin Fernandez; seven daughters, Sara Gonzalez, Ester Gonzalez, Rosario Fernandez, Olga Fernandez, Beatriz Fernandez, Guadalupe Fernandez and Ezperansa Rodriguez; two brothers, Gabino Avila and Anastacio Avila; 80 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and two great, great-grandchildren.
A Rosary was held on June 16 at 7 p.m. at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held today, June 17 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Weed with Father Roland Pabellan officiating. Burial is at Winema Cemetery in Weed.
Arrangements were made by Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel.
