Obituary: Larry Richard Sims

Larry Richard Sims, a resident of Dunsmuir, then Weed, passed away from cancer on August 25, 2010, at his home in Weed. He was 71.

Larry was born in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan on December 6, 1938 to parents Charles Presley Richard Sims and Velma Ellen Sims. He served in the U.S.

Navy from 1955 to 1959 and in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1960 to 1968, and did two tours in Vietnam in 1968 (Vietnam Vet).

Larry was a member of the VFW in Michigan and Oregon, Moose, Elk,
Eagles (Oregon), Master Mason Chadwich Lodge #68, Coquille, Aurora Lodge 59, Reedsport, Oregon, Royal Arch Mason Reams Chapter NO 28, American Legion.

Larry is survived by his wife Patricia Lou Sims; sons David Scott Sims of Fort Bragg, Ca, Daniel Lawrence Sims of Weed, Ca and daughter Sheri Lee Shannon of Dunsmuir, Ca.; three grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.

There will be no services – Family and friends will hold a Celebration of Larry’s Life at the Mt Shasta City Park in Mt. Shasta, Ca. at 3:00 in the afternoon, on Sunday, September 12, 2010.

Donations may be made to Mercy Hospice.
