Bernard Joseph Collier Jr., a resident of Weed, passed away on February 20, 2010 after a brief illness.
BJ, as he was known, was born in Klamath Falls, Oregon on February 17, 1930 to Joseph and Minnie Collier.
BJ was a veteran of the Korean War and served with the US Navy Seabees.
Upon his discharge BJ worked as a mechanic and truck driver in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is where he met and married his wife Catharine Rumford in 1953.
BJ moved his family home to Weed, California. BJ drove logging trucks until his retirement.
BJ was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, Catharine; brothers, Gene Collier and Bill Collier.
BJ is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Bob Caddell of Yreka; son and daughter-in-law, Bernie and Kathy Collier of Houston, Texas; daughter, Mary Collier of Maryland; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Bernie loved the friends he made at the Weed Berean Church. BJ’s services will be held Wednesday, February 24 at the Weed Berean Church, 750 S. Weed Blvd. at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember BJ, please give to the Weed Berean Church in his name.
