Ivan A. Tucker was born in Dunsmuir, California on December 4, 1916 and died on February 18, 2010 in Bullhead City, Arizona.
He enjoyed a full and happy life with his wife, Ardella Williams Tucker and their two children, Kaye Ardella Hall and husband Dave Hall, and Thomas A. Tucker and wife June Tucker.
Services are planned for Thursday, February 25 at Mt. Shasta Memorial Chapel at 2 p.m.
As a young man in the 1930s Ivan worked with Martin & Tucker Studios in Dunsmuir. He ran the studio for some 15 years.
Ivan worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 44 years, starting as a call boy, moving up to a clerk position, and eventually becoming a locomotive engineer.
After his retirement he had more time for traveling with Ardella to such places as Mexico, Canada and on the waterways to the Panama Canal.
With his Martin & Tucker Studio and his early years with Southern Pacific, Ivan also earned the Eagle Scout Badge. Before he was 20 years old he traveled to our nation’s capital, Washington, DC, escorting a group of Scouts.
Whether it be Scouting or climbing Mt. Shasta or on a hunting and fishing trip, he enjoyed the campfire and eating on a piece of deer jerky.
He had a full and enjoyable life with the usual speed bumps that seem to follow our lifetime highway. However, he wasn’t stopped by a stroke in June 2005. It slowed him down, but he recovered and continued his good life living with his daughter, Kaye in Bullhead City, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ardella in June 2002.
His family tree will be around for years to come and grow with five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and seven great, great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
