Gene Erickson, a longtime Mt. Shasta area resident and founder of Erickson Trucking, died June 16, 2009 in Redding at the age of 76.
Born in Bemidji, Minnesota on November 27, 1932, Gene first came to the area as a child when his grandfather and father were working at the mill in Pondosa.
He later returned to Montana, where he graduated from high school, then served with the Navy Seabees during the Korean War.
He returned to the Mt. Shasta area in the 1950s and started Erickson Trucking in 1964.
Gene is survived by his wife LaVada, son Frederick Erickson, and sister Patricia Hines and brother in law Eugene. He has two grandchildren, Frederick Jr. and Katie.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Emil and Amy Erickson, brother Don, and daughter Roseann.
A service is scheduled for this Saturday, June 20, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Mount Shasta, beginning at 10 a.m.
